Here are some great ideas for your nails for New Years! So easy to do! These gems were done by the CND team for Fashion Week. The photos are courtesy of CND. To score these babies this is all you need from any craft store and beauty supply:

1. Gold Leafing

2. Gold Nail Polish

3. Black Nail polish

4. Tweezer

Create your french with gold and black, then top coat the entire nail, while the top coat is still tacky, apply pieces od gold leaf foil in random spots. DO NOT TOP COAT OVER!

For these gorgeous digits, these are much easier to do than they look! All you need is:

1. Micro beads in clear, white and/or irridescent (found in craft store) and bigger pearls usually found in the scrap booking section of craft store

2. Clear or irridescent nail polish

3. opalescent pigment like eye shadow or CND’s new additives

Apply a coat of your nail polish of choice then while wet, dip and roll your nails in the microbeads so they stick on, take your pearls and stick them in the cuticle area using clear polish to adhere them, DO NOT TOP COAT, you want to keep the texture. Then with you pigment, lightly brush some in random spots on the beads that was mixed into a tiny bit of clear polish so it sticks, use an art brush or makeup brush.

Ahhh Seductive & Sexy nails, just add a little fabric of the piece your wearing like lace, fishnet or tool, so easy:

1. Nude polish, (we used CND Putty) you can get that at my friend Angie Wingles website http://goindulge.com

2. Black fishnet (we used very fine material, found in craft store)

3. Fabric glue (craft store)

First, measure out and cut your fabric pieces, place aside, then polish your nails in your color of choice and let dry. top coat, let dry. then using a toothpick apply the glue to the fabric and with a tweezer place the fabric to where you want it on the nail and keep pressing into place until dry, thats it!

Let me know if you want to see more of these posts and definitely if you try any of them!! message me anytime if you need more instructions or if you know of a certain design that you saw and want to know how to do it!

Thanks for reading, Happy New Year!

Creative Nails, Literally, at Fashion Week Christian Siriano, Monique Lhuillier, Rachel Antonoff,& Imitation of Christ

Nails are such an important part of a runway look, especially when the models are doing a presentation.  At Imitation of Christ, I got a quick backstage look at the swirled, press-on nails created by Creative Nail Design  (CND),  inspired by blown glass (see below). Since the models (graceful dancers of different ages) stood in front of mirrors, changing clothes and have “private moments” of reflection (literally) into large, beautiful mirrors, their hands were truly “front and center.”

I’ve also included some of the other nail looks that Creative Nail Design (CND) has featured so far for the Spring 2013 shows.

Degas Delight at Christian Siriano

September 8, 2012 – Today’s runway delivered femme pastels and confectionery-toned delight at Christian Siriano‘s Degas ballerina-inspired fashion show. Nails by CND’s Angi Wingle glimmered with pink thanks to CND Grapefruit Sparkle, a shade from CND’s brand new polish line coming out in Spring 2013. Paired with top knots and luminescent cheekbones, this beauty look was truly en pointe.

      Christian Siriano

At Rachel Antonoff, CND’s Candice Manacchio showed why girls just want to have hedge fun at the country club! Three different nail styles paid tribute to the show’s garden party theme: 1) The “Aerial Nail” portrayed a bird’s eye view of Versailles 2) The “Garden Nail” captured the maze-like quality of the winding hedges in the presentation and 3) Clear tips layered with white and tagged with blue & red Sharpies memorialized the friends and family dearest to the designer. Fun fact: it took the CND nail team over 65 hours to hand-detail 600 tips for this show!

   Versailles  Garden Nail

  Sharpie Style

At Monique Lhuillier, nails were inspired by reflective aquatic movement. CND’sCandice Manacchio created an illuminated, underwater manicure and pedicure usingCND Lavender Pearl Effect mixed with a few drops of brand new CND polish in Lilac Longing (out in Spring 2013). With turquoise and gold eyeshadow, models looked marine marvelous!

Marine Mani

At IMITATION by Tara Subkoff, CND’s Kristina Estabrooks fashioned a “Blown Glass” manicure with swirled and marbleized CND Copper Pearl Effect and CND Colour in Putty. Just as no marbleized nail is alike, the women of this show represented all ages and body types in a reflection on modern day society and female diversity.

The nails of NY Fashion Week! The nail art trends that let you recreate the look of the runway at home

Intricately detailed manicures have gone way beyond rhinestones, crystals and decals — in recent seasons, no designer would think of sending a model down the runway without a signature polish job, specially coordinated to compliment the collection.

A model walks the runway at the Diego Binetti spring 2013 presentation during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Hotel Americano on September 9, 2012 in New York City.

Fashion designers are taking hands-on approach to the manicure.

Nail art, once associated with cheesy decals, has become nail fashion — and no designer would think of sending a model down the runway without a signature polish, specially coordinated to complement the colors and theme of a collection.

LIVE BLOG: MANICURE MANIA! ALL THE NAIL LOOKS AND MORE FROM NY FASHION WEEK

“Nails are the ulimate accessory,” said Candice Manacchio, a nail and fashion expert from CND Nails. “They’re just as important as your hair, your makeup, your iPhone case and your shoes for putting together a coordinated look.”

Some designers choose to keep it simple — others demand mini-masterpieces.

One particularly gasp-worthy example? The “woven” nails at Rodarte, which wowed its attendees with its “Modern Medieval” theme on Tuesday at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

In order to create the “basket-weave” look, ten CND nail stylists hand painted each nail tip. Next, they painted pieces of wax paper a subtly different color and then sliced them into slivers.

Using tweezers, they wove the strips into a lattice.

Each set has 22 nail tips, to accommodate the varying nail size of each model.

“There were so many left over,” said Manacchio. “It was a little heartbreaking after so much work.”

Her team spent over 200 hours creating 30 complete sets of nails. That’s 15 minutes per nail.

Designers work with companies like CND, Essie, OPI, Deborah Lippmann and Dashing Diva to create eye-popping manicures with contrasting colors, patterns, textures and dimensions.

Still, doesn’t it seem like a lot of work? After all, aren’t people looking at the clothes, not the makeup?

“The nails are becoming more and more important,” said CND rep Hannah Longman. “The photos of the manicure will be appearing online and in magazines for months. And besides, it’s a piece of the collection that fashion fans can actually imitate at home — for a very small cost.”

The best thing about nail fashion is that you can be as creative or detailed as you want to create a runway look.

miller

Goth nails at the Nicole Miller Spring 2013 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

While it may look like Manacchio used an expensive paintbrush to create the black and silver nails for Nicole Miller, the truth was much more budget-friendly.

“I dipped the edge of a makeup sponge in polish after creating the diamond pattern,” she said. “That’s all.”

A great place to start? A colorful take on the simple French manicure.

“Seafoam green was huge on the runway,” she said. “Why not paint the nail while and create a green tip?  Or vice versa?”

Some designers stepped away from nail art this season, choosing to stick with simple grey pinks and rose shades.

Victoria Beckham, Christian Siriano, Donna Karan and Elie Tahari chose to stick with pale pink and nearly nude polishes.

The nail brand Zoya teamed up with Peter Som, delivering soft shades of pink, lilac, silver, sea green and this season’s signature color: tangerine.

The French mani was given an update at Rebecca Minkoff, where manicurist Emma Lara did two stripes of jewel tones…

At Joy Cioci, Manacchio attached bits of tulle, lace, and fishnet to the edges of nails with fabric glue. At home, just press your favorite nail decals on tips only, cut off the excess, and file. Try trimming and sticking on these Diva DesignFX Nail Appliqués In Lace Love Affair ($35, dashingdivapro.com for salons).

TODAY ON FASHION FRIDAY… MILLY

Sometimes two brights make a beauty right. Case in point: The models at Milly’s spring 2012 show wore CND Electric Orange on their nails and hot-pink matte lipstick on their lips. Since the hot hues are far away from each other (unless you go around with your hands on your lips, like this lovely lady), the overall vibe isn’t too wild or clash-y.

NAILS:

For MillyCandice Manacchio fashioned neon bright nails using a blend of CND Colours in Brillant WhiteBicycle Yellow, and Electric Orange, to accessorize fuchsia pink lips and vibrant shades of vermillion, tangerine and jade in the collection.

Lots of serious backstage beauty trends emerging this season, and one of the most-prevalent looks we’ve seen is: clean face, fluttery long lashes, and pink lips (we’re talking all different levels of pink lips—from gloss to stain to lipstick).Milly’s spring 2012 show look tapped into this trend, with a carnation pink highly-pigmented mouth and unbelievably gorgeous lashes

TOMORROW…THRIFTY THURSDAY
BY CANDICE MANACCHIO XOXO

After the weeklong marathon of fashion shows that is New York Fashion Week, we admit all the shows have already blended into a blur of bright lights and brighter clothes. But last night David and Phillipe Blond of The Blonds put on a show that people won’t forget so easily.

Since their runway debut in 2007, Florida native David and Puerto Rico-born Phillipe have been creating outfits that don’t take fashion so seriously. This season they paired up with Playboy and sent out big hair and leotards with sequins, pom-poms and fur. Stars such as Patricia Field, Jay Manuel and Johnny Weir sat front and center to witness it all.

While we can’t rock this in the office, celebrities such as Katy Perry, Britney Spears and “The Girls Next Door”’s Holly Madison have already worn designs from the label. And who could blame them — the looks are as crazy as they are creative. Whoever said fashion wasn’t fun clearly hasn’t been to a show by The Blonds.

Glitz & Glam Perfection at The Blonds

September 14, 2011 - CND’s 15 year anniversary at Fashion Week is almost coming to a close, with only one more day to go. Today’s runway nails were Playboy Bunny-approved, feathered and furious, fleshy, and neon bright:

At The BlondsKristina Estabrooks created”Glitz & Glam” manicures for a collection inspired by 60’s Playboy glamour infused with razzle dazzle spectacle we all know and love. The 20 sets of nail tips took over 100 hours of manual labor to hand detail, and included a “Stockings Series” of manicures portraying fishnets, lacy tights and sexy seams. Vintage cosmic-shaped glass was imported from Germany to shape diamond-decadent nails that shined out loud in the spotlight.

TODAY’S FASHION FRIDAY POST IS ALL ABOUT DESIGNER KAREN WALKER. MAKEUP LOOKS, FASHION AND NAILS FROM SPRING/SUMMER 2012 NYC FASHION WEEK

No girl can resist Karen Walker’s cool-girl style, and, as expected, the designer gave us more to look forward to with her Spring 2012 collection. Her “American Girl” theme, inspired by the classic flick Taxi Driver, showed gorgeous prints and soft tailoring. Described as “equal parts Betsey and Iris,” the collection highlighted a mix of painterly florals, checks, and polka-dot prints. Silhouettes were soft and louche as models — accessorized with the cutest printed turbans, killer sunglasses, patent loafers, and baseball caps — walked down the runway in a range of silk and crepe de Chine peplum blouses, strapless jumpers, shirt dresses, and pyjama trousers. In a perfect world, we’d own every piece from the cute-meets-cool collection. Read below for more details.

  • Trends: Printed shirt dresses, pyjama styles, knee-length hemlines, mixed prints.
  • Colours: Yellow, cobalt blue, navy, forest green, pink and brown.
  • Key Look: A bold multicoloured horizontal stripe wool blazer coat.
  • Accessories: Amazing round sunglasses, patent clutches, lace-up booties, patent loafers, and cap-toe pumps.
  • Who Would Wear It: Girls who crave classic looks with a twist like Alexa Chung.

Floral Row

For spring, designers favor head-to-toe florals on slim-cut suits. The flowery prints descend from tailored blazers to skinny pants—or very short shorts—for surprisingly cool summer suits (and easy-to-mix separates).

Poppy orange lips and twisted, Victorian hair made for a modern vintage look at Karen Walker’s spring runway. CND manicurist Wanda Ruiz custom-blended “Murky Mustard” manicures for the collection, mixing CND Colour in Bicycle Yellow with seven drops of CND Colour in Blackjack. The yellow plays off the preppy shades of navy and orange beautifully—it’s bright, feminine, and fun!

Makeup

The new Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Treatment (launching January 2012) was used to prep the skin to create a fresh and luminous complexion. Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15 andClinique All About Eyes Concealer were placed where needed to even out skin tone. Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick in Peachy Blush was concentrated on the apples of the cheeks and softly feathered outward. Clinique Up-lighting Liquid Illuminator in Natural was applied to the high cheek bone area up through the temple and on the bridge of the nose. This illuminator was blotted lightly on the apples of the cheeks to give a healthy, radiant glow. The new Clinique Lid Smoothie Antioxidance 8-Hour Eye Colour in Bit O’Honey or Cashew was added to the inner corner of the lid blending upward toward the brow to give a radiant glow. A small amount was also applied to the bottom lash line.Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Smoky Brown was applied close to the upper lash line to provide soft definition around the eyes. Clinique High Lengths Mascara in Black/Brown was coated on the upper lashes to provide natural definition. Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara in Black/Brown was applied to the bottom lashes to create an innocent and youthful look. A powerful lip was the focal point of the look. A bold coral was specifically chosen as it was a colour that wasn’t already represented in the collection and wasn’t expected as a true red lip. Inspired by the makeup for the Karen Walker show, Clinique will introduce a new limited edition vibrant, coral lipstick shade that will launch in spring 2012.

So here you have it! Another Fashion Friday, Keeping you in the loop for what’s HOT now. Go shopping and express your style this weekend , Happy Friday :)
