Here are some great ideas for your nails for New Years! So easy to do! These gems were done by the CND team for Fashion Week. The photos are courtesy of CND. To score these babies this is all you need from any craft store and beauty supply:

1. Gold Leafing

2. Gold Nail Polish

3. Black Nail polish

4. Tweezer

Create your french with gold and black, then top coat the entire nail, while the top coat is still tacky, apply pieces od gold leaf foil in random spots. DO NOT TOP COAT OVER!

For these gorgeous digits, these are much easier to do than they look! All you need is:

1. Micro beads in clear, white and/or irridescent (found in craft store) and bigger pearls usually found in the scrap booking section of craft store

2. Clear or irridescent nail polish

3. opalescent pigment like eye shadow or CND’s new additives

Apply a coat of your nail polish of choice then while wet, dip and roll your nails in the microbeads so they stick on, take your pearls and stick them in the cuticle area using clear polish to adhere them, DO NOT TOP COAT, you want to keep the texture. Then with you pigment, lightly brush some in random spots on the beads that was mixed into a tiny bit of clear polish so it sticks, use an art brush or makeup brush.

Ahhh Seductive & Sexy nails, just add a little fabric of the piece your wearing like lace, fishnet or tool, so easy:

1. Nude polish, (we used CND Putty) you can get that at my friend Angie Wingles website http://goindulge.com

2. Black fishnet (we used very fine material, found in craft store)

3. Fabric glue (craft store)

First, measure out and cut your fabric pieces, place aside, then polish your nails in your color of choice and let dry. top coat, let dry. then using a toothpick apply the glue to the fabric and with a tweezer place the fabric to where you want it on the nail and keep pressing into place until dry, thats it!

Let me know if you want to see more of these posts and definitely if you try any of them!! message me anytime if you need more instructions or if you know of a certain design that you saw and want to know how to do it!

Thanks for reading, Happy New Year!

Creative Nails, Literally, at Fashion Week Christian Siriano, Monique Lhuillier, Rachel Antonoff,& Imitation of Christ

Nails are such an important part of a runway look, especially when the models are doing a presentation.  At Imitation of Christ, I got a quick backstage look at the swirled, press-on nails created by Creative Nail Design  (CND),  inspired by blown glass (see below). Since the models (graceful dancers of different ages) stood in front of mirrors, changing clothes and have “private moments” of reflection (literally) into large, beautiful mirrors, their hands were truly “front and center.”

I’ve also included some of the other nail looks that Creative Nail Design (CND) has featured so far for the Spring 2013 shows.

Degas Delight at Christian Siriano

September 8, 2012 – Today’s runway delivered femme pastels and confectionery-toned delight at Christian Siriano‘s Degas ballerina-inspired fashion show. Nails by CND’s Angi Wingle glimmered with pink thanks to CND Grapefruit Sparkle, a shade from CND’s brand new polish line coming out in Spring 2013. Paired with top knots and luminescent cheekbones, this beauty look was truly en pointe.

      Christian Siriano

At Rachel Antonoff, CND’s Candice Manacchio showed why girls just want to have hedge fun at the country club! Three different nail styles paid tribute to the show’s garden party theme: 1) The “Aerial Nail” portrayed a bird’s eye view of Versailles 2) The “Garden Nail” captured the maze-like quality of the winding hedges in the presentation and 3) Clear tips layered with white and tagged with blue & red Sharpies memorialized the friends and family dearest to the designer. Fun fact: it took the CND nail team over 65 hours to hand-detail 600 tips for this show!

   Versailles  Garden Nail

  Sharpie Style

At Monique Lhuillier, nails were inspired by reflective aquatic movement. CND’sCandice Manacchio created an illuminated, underwater manicure and pedicure usingCND Lavender Pearl Effect mixed with a few drops of brand new CND polish in Lilac Longing (out in Spring 2013). With turquoise and gold eyeshadow, models looked marine marvelous!

Marine Mani

At IMITATION by Tara Subkoff, CND’s Kristina Estabrooks fashioned a “Blown Glass” manicure with swirled and marbleized CND Copper Pearl Effect and CND Colour in Putty. Just as no marbleized nail is alike, the women of this show represented all ages and body types in a reflection on modern day society and female diversity.

The nails of NY Fashion Week! The nail art trends that let you recreate the look of the runway at home

Intricately detailed manicures have gone way beyond rhinestones, crystals and decals — in recent seasons, no designer would think of sending a model down the runway without a signature polish job, specially coordinated to compliment the collection.

Fashion designers are taking hands-on approach to the manicure.

Nail art, once associated with cheesy decals, has become nail fashion — and no designer would think of sending a model down the runway without a signature polish, specially coordinated to complement the colors and theme of a collection.

LIVE BLOG: MANICURE MANIA! ALL THE NAIL LOOKS AND MORE FROM NY FASHION WEEK

“Nails are the ulimate accessory,” said Candice Manacchio, a nail and fashion expert from CND Nails. “They’re just as important as your hair, your makeup, your iPhone case and your shoes for putting together a coordinated look.”

Some designers choose to keep it simple — others demand mini-masterpieces.

One particularly gasp-worthy example? The “woven” nails at Rodarte, which wowed its attendees with its “Modern Medieval” theme on Tuesday at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

In order to create the “basket-weave” look, ten CND nail stylists hand painted each nail tip. Next, they painted pieces of wax paper a subtly different color and then sliced them into slivers.

Using tweezers, they wove the strips into a lattice.

Each set has 22 nail tips, to accommodate the varying nail size of each model.

“There were so many left over,” said Manacchio. “It was a little heartbreaking after so much work.”

Her team spent over 200 hours creating 30 complete sets of nails. That’s 15 minutes per nail.

Designers work with companies like CND, Essie, OPI, Deborah Lippmann and Dashing Diva to create eye-popping manicures with contrasting colors, patterns, textures and dimensions.

Still, doesn’t it seem like a lot of work? After all, aren’t people looking at the clothes, not the makeup?

“The nails are becoming more and more important,” said CND rep Hannah Longman. “The photos of the manicure will be appearing online and in magazines for months. And besides, it’s a piece of the collection that fashion fans can actually imitate at home — for a very small cost.”

The best thing about nail fashion is that you can be as creative or detailed as you want to create a runway look.

miller

Goth nails at the Nicole Miller Spring 2013 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

While it may look like Manacchio used an expensive paintbrush to create the black and silver nails for Nicole Miller, the truth was much more budget-friendly.

“I dipped the edge of a makeup sponge in polish after creating the diamond pattern,” she said. “That’s all.”

A great place to start? A colorful take on the simple French manicure.

“Seafoam green was huge on the runway,” she said. “Why not paint the nail while and create a green tip?  Or vice versa?”

Some designers stepped away from nail art this season, choosing to stick with simple grey pinks and rose shades.

Victoria Beckham, Christian Siriano, Donna Karan and Elie Tahari chose to stick with pale pink and nearly nude polishes.

The nail brand Zoya teamed up with Peter Som, delivering soft shades of pink, lilac, silver, sea green and this season’s signature color: tangerine.

Fall’s nail art is “not about stars and rainbows,” says CND ambassador Candice Manacchio. So what’s cool now? Unique tips. Inspiration after the jump!

At Joy Cioci, Manacchio attached bits of tulle, lace, and fishnet to the edges of nails with fabric glue. At home, just press your favorite nail decals on tips only, cut off the excess, and file. Try trimming and sticking on these Diva DesignFX Nail Appliqués In Lace Love Affair ($35, dashingdivapro.com for salons).

What do you think of these daring French manis? Which style would you try out?

Diego Binetti – Spring 2012 Review – Fantasy Plays-FASHION FRIDAY

Some of the most delightfully unusual makeup, hair, and nail looks surfaced at the Diego Binetti Spring 2012 show, which took place on Tuesday, September 13th, at nightlife hot spot Provocateur. Fusing together carnival references with medieval hardware, circus motifs, harlequinade color influences, and masquerade ball theatrics, makeup artist James Vincent painted models’ faces in purple, blue, and pink tones, adorning them with lace stencils, theatrical artificial lashes, and feathers (some perfectly arranged to line the periphery of the eye, resembling masquerade ball masks). The idea of makeup as mask, as playful disguise, guided the entire process.

The hair looks created for the show were equally theatrical. Rodney Cutler, owner of the Cutler/Redken Salons, masterminded numerous sweeping updos, including a French twist and a bouffant-style chignon. The common denominator for all these looks was the texture — after blow drying the hair roughly with Redken Fashion Work 12, he took small 1/8” sections of hair and crimped them using a mini crimper. These crimped strands of hair were then gathered with the straightened strands and twisted section by section, then twirled into dramatic updos and secured with pins. For greater hold, he sprayed Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray all over the head.

For the final touch of drama, CND nail artist Candice Manacchio created pink ombré manicures with gilded tips. To craft the “Harlequin Hardware” manicures, Manacchip began by staining nails with CND Colour in Raspberry and CND Colour in Frosting Cream, allowing the periphery of the nail plate to appear darker than the centers, then capping tips with gold or silver metal for a glitzy take on a French manicure. Models with exposed toes had their nails painted with CND Raspberry Parfait.

NAILS

Backstage at Diego Binetti’s Spring 2012 fashion show, manicurist Candice Manacchio perfected “harlequin hardware” nail art. The ombré finish complemented the Bueno Aires born designer’s fanciful collection, which was full of chiffon and lace fabrics dipped in pink, coral and cream. However, it was the metallic French tips, in what Binetti described as “a little ghetto edge” that enticed me to dress up my digits with this look.

To recreate this design, start by filing nails into a square shape. Apply a base polish and once dry, paint on two coats of CND Nail Colour in Frosting Cream (a sheer pale pink). Then brush on CND Raspberry Parfait (an opaque pink) to the outer corners — forming a “U” shape. To achieve the “acid-wash” center, rub gently with acetone. Finish by capping with silver or gold tips.

What do you think about this “harlequin hardware” manicure? Tell us in the comments section and shop the products below to give it a try.

I mentioned the nails from the Diego Binetti, but this time it is the makeup that I’m calling attention to. Isn’t it amazing? Makeup artist James Vincent used carnival references, medieval hardware, circus motifs and masquerade balls as inspiration for the different looks he created for the show; two of the looks are pictured here. Lace stencils, artificial lashes and even feathers were used to create these looks that played on the idea of makeup as a mask. Well done, sir.

HAIR

Stylist Rodney Cutler took inspiration from the theatrical and highly editorial show when crafting the crimped look. Here’s how to get the look.

  1. Blow-dry the hair roughly with Redken Fashion Work 12 Versatile Working Spray.

  2. Take small eighth-inch sections of your hair and crimp with a mini crimper for texture.

  3. Finish by twisting the hair up section by section into various updos and twists. Lock your style into place with pins.

  4. Finish with Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray.

The collection is full of dreamy creams, corals, and touches of neon pink. As with previous seasons, the designer has a strong love for combining textures and embellished elements which are prevelant in this collection. Full of flowing chiffons, tiers of lace and encrusted mirrors, the designer also incoporated a new construction tecnique involving origami.

SO HERE YOU HAVE IT, THE INSIDE SCOOP ON DIEGO BINETTI, COLORFUL MAKEUP, UNIQUE FASHION PEICES AND EASY TO DO TRENDY HAIR STYLES. GO OUT SHOPPING TO FIND EVEN ONE PIECE OF INSPIRATION TO JAZZ UP YOUR LOOK. HAPPY FRIDAY!

TODAY ON FASHION FRIDAY: IT’S ALL ABOUT JEN KAO…
CHECK OUT THE SUMMER HAIR, MAKEUP, “HOT” NAILS AND OF COURSE… THE WARDROBE!

Jen Kao Beauty, New York Fashion Week S/S 2012

Nails and Makeup at Jen Kao, NYFW S/S RTW 2012

Jen Kao

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2012

Deconstructed organic forms and clashing prints in apricot, violet, cream, and sage tones characterized Jen Kao’s chaotically feminine spring collection. Color-blocked, cut, and dyed fabric transformed into fashionable works of art. It’s one of the most architectural collections we’ve seen on the runway so far.

MAKEUP

“Polished grunge is the inspiration behind the makeup look at Jen Kao,” said Maybelline New York Global Makeup Artist Charlotte Willer. “The bright lips and flirty lashes give a playful look, while the sleek eyes provide a hard contrast.” Charlotte prepped the skin with Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation and dusted Maybelline Fit Me! Powder across the T-zone. She applied Maybelline Fit Me! Blush in Medium Coral, a warm orange-based shade, on the apples of the cheeks. She used the gold shade from Maybelline Eye Studio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow in Give Me Gold to create a straight hard line that extended from the outer corners of the eyes towards the temples. She appliedMaybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm in Quenched on the lid for a glossy yet natural sheen. A few individual lashes were sporadically placed along the lash line and coated with Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara in Black Drama. Charlotte swiped a combination of Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Colors in Coral Crush and Are Your Red-dy on the lips.

HAIR

“We wanted a strong, independent girl–a ‘tank woman.’ We felt like having fun and making sure this was a look where the girl could have completed the look herself.” Peter Gray for Cutler/Redken Salon.

  1. Blow out hair with Redken Full Frame 07 Volumizing Mousse and split hair into two ponytails separating from bottom to crown and crown to forehead.

  2. Merge pony tails into one at the top center of the head and create a whispy ’90s knot, leaving the ends out hanging toward the face.

  3. Create two small braids with colored string interlaced. Pull them up into the ponytail base to make the braids look like the anchor point of the bun.

  4. Finish with Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray to lock hair into place and Cutler Shine Tattoo for shine.

NAILS

To enhance the highly stylized pieces, Wanda Ruiz and the CND team created gradation manicures, artfully diffused with an airbrush tool. Recreate the look at home with a stippling sponge using CND Colours in Midnight Sapphire, Anchor Blue, Rouge Red, and Green Scene each combined with Inkwell and topped with CND Air Dry Top Coat while wet for an ombré finish.

Inspired by the warm beaches of tropical paradise, gradient floras, laces and burnout embroideries, sweeping silks and cottons along with wind-adoring drapery and the soft colors of sunrise and sunset set ablaze the stage at the Jen Kao show. Meanwhile, the Custo Barcelona show, titled “Tripolar,” divided its runway looks into three ascending groups (Dual, Kaleidoscophio, Mirame) as androgynous looks dominated by contemporary patterns and helmed with mirrors, holographic and metal embellishments. Even graphic 3-D technology made an appearance!

THERE YOU HAVE IT! THE INSPIRATION FOR DESIGNER JEN KAO! NOT SURE ABOUT YOU, BUT MAKES ME VERY EXCITED FOR SUMMER! TIME TO GO SHOPPING.
