TODAY’S MANICURE MONDAY IS ABOUT A NEWER TREND IN POLISH CALLED “MAGNET” POLISH, HAVE YOU TRIED IT YET? IF NOT, HERE IT IS…

What it is:
A revolutionary magnetic nail lacquer used to create stunning 3D nail art designs in chic metallic shades.

What it does:
Get the wow factor with this revolutionary polish that lets you create gorgeous nail art effects in just a few minutes using nails inc. Textured, special effects nails are big news for this season and the ultimate fashion and party accessory. Choose from three magnetic polishes named after iconic London attractions: Trafalgar Square (chrome), Houses of Parliament (purple), and Big Ben (gold).

What else you need to know:
This unique formula has been specially developed with metallic particles to create a pattern on the nail using magnetic forces.

HOW TO APPLY MAGNETIC POLISH

  1. Apply your usual base coat and let it dry.
  2. Apply your first coat of magnetic polish to all ten nails and give it a minute to set.
  3. Apply one coat of magnetic polish to a single nail. If it looks opaque enough, continue to step four. If it looks too sheer, add another coat to all nails before continuing.
  4. Working one nail at a time, apply a coat of magnetic polish and then immediately hold the magnet over the nail.
  5. Hold the magnet completely still for at least 10 seconds. Holding it longer will give you a clearer design.
  6. Continue this process (apply final coat, expose polish to magnet) on all ten nails.
  7. Wait a few minutes for the magnetic design to set before applying topcoat.

COOL EFFECTS! SO EASY TO DO…YOUR TURN!

TOMORROW…WHATS NEW WEDNESDAY.

In a season defined by minimalism and natural beauty, hairstylists channeled easy elegance for spring. The sporting life was a popular theme with styles that looked fresh from the ocean or outdoors, and classic American glamour had a big moment with polished ponytails, graceful braids, and bouncy blowouts. Still, nothing was too perfect or impeccable—deconstructed waves and undone knots and twists proved that having a bit of an edge is as chic as ever. Here I have you covered:

1. Glistening Hair

It might be the most low-maintenance look of the season. Wet, barely-wrung hair has a youthful innocence that’s also glamorous when paired with bold eyes or lips. Hairstylist Guido championed the trend at numerous shows, saturating strands with argan oil to arrive at a glossy finish all over or just at the roots.

Tousled knots at Diesel Black Gold

Slick with a center part at Alberta Ferretti

Slightly dewy ringlets at Elie Saab

2. Ponytails A Plenty

The ponytail is back. But did it ever fall out of favor? The versatile horsetail was worn low and flat, as seen at Reed Krakoff and Ports 1961, tucked under and sectioned off, witnessed at Marc by Marc Jacobs and Herve Leger, or super slicked and damp, as noted at Diesel Black Gold and Donna Karan.

Tails that swing at Ralph Lauren

3. THE URBAN WAVE

The beachy wave has given way to the urban bend—a loose, louche curve in the hair that’s effortlessly cool and made to look like the models did it themselves. The street-ready style only requires a rough blow dry, subtle curl with the iron, and raking through with the hands to create the right amount of undone-ness.

Laidback body at Givenchy

A cool mess at Isabel Marant

4. EMBELLISHED UPDOS

Imaginative touches defined the season’s most memorable updos. At Yves Saint Laurent, teased chignons were secured with cage barrettes, hair pins and errant strands looked chic sticking out at Phillip Lim, feathers made a striking statement at Jason Wu, and pearl-adorned knots stole the show at Chanel.

5. BIGGER BLOWOUTS

“Light,” “gorgeous,” and “rich” were just some of the words stylists used to describe this season’s voluminous, bouncy blowouts. It’s a return to elegance that doesn’t require much in the way of high-tech tools either. Simply apply a generous amount of mousse, set hair in pin curls, then release and tousle.

Tons of movement at DKNY

6. SOPHISTICATED BRAIDS AND TWISTS

Braids got a graceful makeover for spring. Hairstylists created pretty plaits and that swooped around the head, playfully exposing the neck at Valentino, or cascaded down the full length of the back at Michael Kors. At Armani, the inspiration was an elegant woman who’s pinned her hair up without much thought but looks all the more stylish for doing so.

TODAY IS ALL ABOUT THE OMBRE GLITTER FADE NAILS YOU SEE EVERYWHERE, OR EVEN THE GLITTER ON ONE NAIL AND THE REST PAINTED WITHOUT. HERE’S HOW TO CREATE THE FADE OR JUST SIMPLY MAKE YOUR OWN GLITTER POLISH! YES, IT’S THAT EASY!!!

THIS LOOK HAS BEEN SEEN ON MANY CELEBS, ON THE THE RUNWAY AND MANY FASHIONISTAS! WANT TO GET IT?

FIRST, IF YOU DON’T HAVE ANY GLITTER NAIL POLISH, LETS MAKE SOME…HERES WHAT YOU WILL NEED…

1. CLEAR POLISH, AND/OR COLOR POLISH

2. GLITTER, THE FINEST YOU CAN GET IN A CRAFT STORE

3. FUNNEL

SIMPLY POUR A SINGLE COLOR OR MULTIPLE COLORS INTO ANY CLEAR NAIL POLISH, OR EVEN IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR EXISTING PLAIN COLORS OF POLISH INTO GLITTER, USING A FUNNEL SO YOU DON’T MAKE A MESS. YOU CAN ALWAYS FOLD A PEICE OF PAPER INTO A CREASE AND POUR THE GLITTER!

SOMETIMES IF YOU JUST THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX, THERE ARE SO MANY AT HOME THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR SO, SO LITTLE MONEY!!!

NEXT, THE OMBRE…

THIS IS SO EASY, JUST TAKE A CLEAR POLISH BRUSH, WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF CLEAR POLISH, DIP INTO THE LOOSE GLITTER AND PLACE AT THE CUTICLE AREA, WIPE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DIP INTO THE NEXT COLOR. THE IDEA IS TO FADE DOWN OR UP THE NAIL, DEPENDING WHERE YOU WANT THE DARKEST POINT.

YOU CAN ALSO USE A WIDER PAINT BRUSH, OR GEL BRUSH THATS USED FOR GEL NAILS, AND DIP INTO RUBBING ALCOHOL TO MAKE BRISTLES DAMP, THEN PLACE INTO LOOSED GLITTER AND STICK TO TACKY FRESHLY PAINTED NAIL POLISH. OR WITH YOUR CUSTOM MADE POLISH, PAINT RIGHT OUT OF THE BOTTLE. THE IDEA IS TO CREATE YOUR OWN.

GOOD LUCK! IF YOU TRY THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME, SEND ME PICS I WOULD LOVE TO REBLOG FOR YOU!

ONE OF THE TOP TRENDS RIGHT NOW… D.I.Y. FUN NAIL ART, DESIGNS, MISMATCHED POLISH!

THIS IS EASY AS JUST DOING ONE HAND ONE COLOR AND THE OTHER HAND ANOTHER COLOR.

OR..PAINT EACH NAIL A DIFFERENT COLOR. A POPULAR ONE IS TO KEEP IT SIMPLE BY JUST DOING YOUR RING FINGER A DIFFERENT COLOR.

ANOTHER TREND THAT IS STILL “IN” IS MINX OR SALLY HANSON NAIL STICKERS..

WORN BY KATY PERRY AND MANY OTHER CELEBS, THIS IS AN EASY D.I.Y

Application

  1. Remove any polish from the nail with acetone.  Shape the free edges (it’s easier when they are square).
  2. Turn on your heat lamp and put their fingers and the Minx under it for at least thirty seconds.  This will activate the adhesion on the Minx and warm the nail plate.
  3. Peel a Minx off the sheet.  Place it on the fingernail (still under the heat lamp) pressing it on starting with the middle and working side to side.  If this is difficult for you it can also be done by pressing it on from one side to the other.  This can be tricky on people with a high arch to the nail.  Just keep working till you have no wrinkles.
  4. Take a cuticle pusher or birchwood stick and rub the entire Minx firmly making sure to seal the edges and tip well.  Pull the end of the Minx down and stick it to the fingertip so that it is held tight on the tip.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool for one minute.
  6. Take your crystal file and in a straight DOWNWARD motion file the Minx at the tip until the end is removed.  If you notice the Minx peeling at the tip you may be slighly filing on top of the nail plate… go straight down.
  7. Look a the nails carefully.  If there are any bubbles are if there is any lifting return to heat and fix by rubbing with the cuticle pusher.
  8. Allow to cool.

ANOTHER TREND.. KONAD STAMPING…THIS YOU CAN GET AT YOUR LOCAL CRAFT STORE, AMAZON.COM, EBAY…

HERES HOW TO DO IT AND WHAT YOU NEED!

ANOTHER TREND, D.I.Y. NEWSPAPER NAILS..THIS IS SO EASY..

1. AFTER YOUR NAIL POLISH DRYS, WET YOUR NAILS WITH ALCOHOL

2. CUT OFF A PIECE OF NEWSPAPER THE SIZE OF YOUR NAIL AND PRESS ONTO YOUR NAIL THAT IS WET WITH ALCOHOL

3. THE PRINT WILL TRANSFER ONTO YOUR NAIL! YES…THAT’S IT!

4. THEN SEAL WITH YOUR FAVORITE TOP COAT!

*** THEN THERES THE D.I.Y IF YOUR ARTISTIC AND HAVE A STEADY HAND, JUST CREATE YOUR OWN WITH A SMALL NAIL ART BRUSH, WITH ACRYLIC ART PAINT OR NAIL POLISH

WANT TO KNOW HOW TO DO A SPECIFIC DESIGN? OR WANT TO SEE A VIDEO HOW TO? PLEASE COMMENT BELOW AND I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SHOW YOU HOW!

TOMORROW, WHATS NEW WEDNESDAY’S…

TODAYS POST IS HOW TO BRING YOU FROM THIS…..

TO THIS…..

How to Do a Manicure in 5 Easy Steps

A beautifully manicured hand used to be the province of women with enough money to spend on a professional manicure on a weekly basis. Not anymore. With more women working as professionals and executives, a manicure is no longer considered a luxury, but rather an important part of daily grooming.

(Women Need To Do This Regularly, Age Shows In The Hands, When Hands Are Dry Looking, They Flat Out Look OLD!

If you want to keep your nails looking professionally manicured, but don’t want the weekly hassle and expense of salon manicures, you need to learn tips and tricks of simple home manicures. You can give and get perfect manicures at home with just a few easy techniques.

Cleaning
Before beginning your manicure, wash your hands thoroughly with a scrub brush, making sure you get under the nails. Clean the tops of the nail as well. Let them dry completely. Use polish remover and a cotton ball to remove all traces of any old polish completely. Once your nails are completely clean and bare, look at them carefully just to make sure there are no signs of injury or damage to the nails or the cuticles. Applying polish to damaged nails could invite infection.

Shaping
Next, use an emery board to file and shape the nail on each finger. Start with your little finger, and use short strokes to file from the outside edge of the nail toward the center in the same direction. File with two or three short strokes and then one longer smooth stroke. If you file your nail this way, you will avoid any splitting. The single longer stroke blends and smoothes the edge of the nail so it is uniform.

Nails grow in a variety of shapes and sizes, but there are four basic shapes: pointed, oval, round and square. Typically, the squarer the nail is, the stronger it will be. You should consider what you do with your hands when deciding how to shape them with your manicure.

Treating Your Cuticles
Apply cuticle remover, ( I like CND Cuticle Eraser ) and let it sit for a minute or so. Ideally, you should soak your hand in a solution of antibacterial soap and water for a few minutes, Or for really dry skin and cuticle, soak in Olive Oil warmed up in your microwave!!!Dry your hand, and then carefully push back the cuticle with an orangewood stick that is wrapped in cotton. Be gentle so you don’t tear the cuticle; it hurts and it isn’t pretty. Repeat with the other hand. You can even really pamper your self with wetting a small hand towel, wring it out, put in the microwave for 30 seconds and then wrap your hands!

Apply Cuticle Oil

This will hydrate and moisturize the cuticles, ( I use CND SolarOil , Its like a manicure in a bottle! ) Massage into every nail, Then with a 3- Way Buffer, buff a shine into the nail, use the black side first, then white, then great if your using your girlfriend aka ( CND Girlfriend Buffer )

Last, Massage A Moisturizing Hand Cream Into Your Hands, Arms, & Elbows…Use Daily.

Polishing Your Nails

Start with a base coat first. It will protect the fingernail, and it will help your color go on smoothly and last longer. (Like CND Stickey Base Coat ) Start with the little finger on each hand. Use light strokes, starting at the bottom and gliding upward. You should use three strokes on each finger. Polish the middle of the nail first and then either side. As you stroke on the polish, try to get the same amount of polish on the brush each time so the nail polish goes on smoothly.

Use two coats of polish, but be sure to let it dry completely in between. Wrap an orange stick in cotton that has been dampened with nail polish remover to clean up any stray drips or slips. Finally, apply your top coat. Try not to skip the top coat unless you are in a real hurry, as it will help the rest of your polish last.

Dry Your Nails
If necessary, use a quick-dry product, ( Like CND Solar Speed Spray ) These little beauties come in a spray, a pump or a polish (CND Speedy Top Coat ) so choose your favorite but use one. A quick-dry product will dry your polish in a snap, protecting the surface from bumps or smears. If you have ever worn nail polish, you know the frustration of smeared polish that never even got a chance to dry.

**YOU CAN ALSO PUT A BOWL OF WATER IN THE REFRIGERATOR AND WHEN YOUR DONE POLISHING, SOAK YOUR NAILS IN THE ICE COLD WATER TO SORT OF “FREEZE” THE POLISH!

Manicure Maintenance
When you are all done and your nail polish has dried, clean your tools, such as your nail clippers, with a disinfectant. Don’t share your manicure tools with anyone else to avoid infection.

To make your manicure last, try to wear gloves when performing any activity that will require wear and tear on your nails, such as washing the dishes. Also make sure to use hand cream and moisturize your cuticles.

( Or Try CND Shellac My Favorite! This Way You Don’t Have To Worry About Drying Or How It Lasts! ) To find a Shellac Salon near you, visit CND.COM And click on “Find A Shellac Salon” And put in your zip code, this will list any of our “Certified Salons” Near you!

Don’t worry if your first home manicure doesn’t look salon-perfect. This art is easily mastered. Many women perform their own manicures and never tell a soul. If you schedule your home manicure as a relaxing gift to yourself, you will soon find out how soothing a ritual doing your nails can become. If you follow this step-by-step guide and practice just a bit, your nails will never give away your secrets to a perfect home manicure.

Who watched the Golden Globes this weekend? We’re loving Zooey Deschanel’s tuxedo nails (especially since we did ‘em at Ruffian’s Fall 2011 show) At Fashion Week…

To Sport this look, D.I.Y Tip:

Polish a French manicure design using any 2 colors of choice, we used a custom blend purple/lavender shade and black (CND Blackjack) as the french tip LET DRY!

for the bow tie, use a toothpick, detail art brush, marblier tool and with the black, create an X at the top of the nail then connect the sides and fill in, add a dot in the center of the X

Then place your 2-3 dots down the center of the nail..Top coat

*** TOO HARD? HERES AN EASIER SHORTCUT****

On a clear nail, create your french line, and bow tie etc first, this way if you need to clean up the lines you can do so with a art brush and polish remover, let fully dry, then go over with translucent shimmer color.
