TODAYS TUESDAY TREND IS THE MUST HAVE CORAL LIP THAT IS SIMPLY GORGEOUS FOR THIS SPRING! TALK ABOUT COMPLIMENTING SKIN TONE! READ ON…..

The season’s must-try lip shade is beachy and hot — sound familiar Miami? Instead of constantly reaching for our usual red, we’re switching gears for spring and embracing a coral kisser — inspired by the pretty . Coral lips on recent shoots I have worked on, including Spring Fashion Week! To help you pick your perfect coral match, here are a few tips, While the hue may look vivid, it’s a surprisingly versatile shade: “Coral is actually a neutral color, meaning it can be both warm and cool so it works for everyone.”

When it comes to selecting a statement-making pop of color for your lips, the trick to picking the right one is not based on your skin’s actual shade, but rather your undertones. “If your skin has gold or yellow undertones, a peachier or orange coral will be most flattering. If you have pink undertones, choose a pink or red-based coral.”

With those tips in mind, here are five new coral lip colors to get you started with spring’s freshest beauty trend. From shiny and sheer balm to high-impact lipstick, check out the prettiest peachy-hued lip products to add to your beauty bag.
Tarte’s vibrant coral has a warm golden sheen to it and is infused with maracuja oil to make your lips look and feel, well, divine.

Today For Fashion Week Friday … Looks From Designer Joy Cioci For Spring/Summer 2012 NYFW

For The Makeup…

SHOW: Joy Cioci

MAKEUP: Uzo for NARS

MODELS: Sam, Trump; Louise, Ford

HIGHLIGHTS: ”Strong and dewy” is so much more than the sum of its parts in this enthralling combination of orange-red lips and pinched cheeks that’s exponentially more stunning, thanks to incandescent skin.

IN THEIR WORDS:
“The bold color in Joy’s collection really inspired this strong and dewy look,” said Uzo, NARS International Lead Makeup Artist. “It’s a little ’80s, a little ’40s—
and a little 2012. The clothes were the starting point here. I wanted to do a powerful, red-orange lip that spoke to the vibrancy of Joy’s spring colors.”

GET IT:
Before quenching skin with a lightweight moisturizer, Uzo pulled out the look’s secret tool
NARS Illuminator and carefully highlighted points from temple to cheekbone, infusing an ethereal glow before applying foundation. Both lips and cheeks radiated with strategically blended Lipstick in Heat Wave. Using her finger, Uzo swiped a dot straight from the tube onto the apples of the cheeks and blended out toward the hairline. For a defined pout, lips were prepped with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl before a finishing coat of Heat Wave.

WARDROBE…

This season, Joy Cioci seems to be channeling the optimism of spring with the tradition of the Kentucky Derby. Lots of delicate ruffles, oversized floppy hats and gossamer chiffons complimented the neon palate. The extremes of delicate fabrics layered against a bright colors kept the collection seem free and adventurous.

Standout trend: Layered ruffles and casual draping relaxed the collection so that it was modern and not stuffy.

How to get the look: Use bright orange-reds on the lips and cheeks and naturals or nudes on the eyes. Skip the eyeliner and finish with a light layer of mascara. Set the hair in large rollers to get a nice light wave. Remember not to fuss with the curls because it will quickly turn your waves into a frizz craze.

Who makes it work: The proper Southern belle who isn’t too shy to show her bright side with color. Perhaps, we should call it Hilly gone wild.
FOR THE NAILS….
CND manicured creations are all the buzz this Fashion Week. At Joy Cioci,Candice Manacchio designed “Lucite Lace” manicures using clear tips with hand-detailed lattice work. These see-through nails provided energy and attitude when paired with a fiery orange lip and frantic, whimsical curls.

NOW GO TRY YOUR VERSION OF THIS LOOK THIS WEEKEND, HOPE THIS INSPIRES YOU TO ADD SOME BRIGHTNESS TO YOUR LOOK.

THE NO MAKEUP, MAKEUP LOOK!

This is one of the most popular looks that is a must this coming Spring!

Who do YOU know can roll out of bed looking this fresh-faced and GORGE. Yeah, we hate to burst your bubble, but the no-makeup makeup look actually requires a bit of prep work. The good news—it’s a waaaayyyyy faster (and fool-proof) makeup routine to snag than the whole red lip + cat eye ensemble.

Step 1 Moisturize and even out your skin tone with a tinted lotion, like Tarte Smooth Operator Natural Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ($36, ulta.com), which is infused with sunscreen to protect your complexion from skin-damaging UV rays.

Step 2 Disguise flaws (breakouts, undereye circles, etc.) with a concealer like Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer ($6.99, drugstore.com). One with a small applicator tip will help reign in a heavy hand and prevent caking.

Step 3 If your skin gets shiny, sweep on a light dusting of oil-absorbing powder. Shiseido Translucent Pressed Powder ($32, sephora.com) will leave an unnoticeable veil of shine-blocker.

Step 4 Apply a warm peach or pink cream blush to the apples of your cheeks. NARS Cream Blush in Penny Lane ($27, sephora.com) gives skin a natural flush.

Step 5 Brighten eyes by blending a champagne-colored shadow like Urban Decay Delux Eyeshadow in Ruthless ($18, urbandecay.com) onto the center of your eyelids, the brow bones, and the inner corners of your eyes.

Step 6 Lightly dot a gray or brown eyeliner pencil like CoverGirl Perfect Blend Eye Pencil in Smoky Taupe ($5.29, drugstore.com) between your top lashes and blend gently with your pinky.

Step 7 Use your fingertip to dab on a pretty lip tint like Korres Guava Lipstick in Rose ($22, korresusa.com) that matches the natural shade of your lips.

THE KEY IS TO KEEP EVERYTHING DEWY AND NEUTRAL, NOT MATTE!
** ALSO, SKIP BROW PENCIL AND USE A BROW POWDER WITH AN ANGLE BRUSH THAT MATCHES YOUR NATURAL HAIR COLOR, OR EVEN BETTER, TAKE A BROW BRUSH AND SPRITZ HAIRSPRAY AND JUST BRUSH YOUR BROWS INTO SHAPE.
** ANOTHER TIP, BEFORE YOU MOISTURIZE, EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN AND APPLY A FACE TANNING MOUSSE OR CREAM (LIKE ST TROPEZ) YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT HOW HEALTHY YOU LOOK :)
**  AND STICK TO THESE SHADES FOR EYESHADOW, GOLDS, CREAM, BRONZE…NOTICE THE MINIMAL EYELINER? PUT A NUDE SHADE EYELINER INSIDE YOUR WATERLINE!
So try this look, get your No Makeup, Makeup Look!

THE BRIGHT, BOLD LIP “HOW TO” …….

So, Everyone is seeing the Bold Lip trend right now, Yes everywhere!!! But, how do YOU do it “and” get it right,  as well as STAY! This is how…

First, you want to prep your lips. What I mean by this is Exfoliate, Moisturize and Plump.

OPTION 1.  (Save) The fast, inexpensive way is after you brush your teeth, brush your lips..this removes dead skin AND plumps by stimulating the blood. Then add moisture, I use Aquaphor.

OPTION 2. The (Splurge), and, I have the time way, exfoliate your lips with cinnamon & sugar. The sugar removes the dead skin and the cinnamon is a natural plumper, it stimulates the blood (Added Bonus) the scent of the cinnamon will suppress the appetite! OR, get a lip plumping treatment like “Eminence Cinnamon Kiss Organic lip Plumper”  Then moisturize, I like “Hissyfit”  lip treatment!

* Next, Prime your lips and set the canvas for color…

OPTION 1. (Save) Blot your lips on a tissue to remove excess moisture and camouflage with any concealer, OR your foundation removing your natural lip color (Think Mannequin lips) and set with powder. Baby powder, talc powder or your pressed powder.

OPTION 2. (Splurge) Conceal all redness out of lips, I like ”Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer”  And set with translucent powder like“Makeup Forever HD Translucent Powder”.

NOW, IT’S COLOR TIIMMEEEE…..

* CHOOSE YOUR LIP COLOR AND GET A MATCHING LIP PENCIL TO MATCH THAT COLOR!

1. Line your lips with your pencil either on the natural line to keep the existing shape, or outside of your line to create the illusion of fuller lips ( I need to do that, because my lips are small hahaha)

2. Fully color in your lips with the pencil and set with powder. Now apply your color. Use a lip brush to apply the lipstick, this will make your application precise and last longer versus applying straight from the lipstick itself.

3. YOU NEED TO BLOT ON A TISSUE!!! This is key. Then set with powder (Yes Again) And apply one more coat of lipstick.

4. Walah, Your Done! you can apply a little gloss on top to really make them glossy and fuller if you want. Now, go show off those sexy lips.

CHECK OUT MY BOLD LIP I DID YESTERDAY…

***THIS IS A BIT HIGH MAINTENANCE IF YOUR GOING TO GIVE IT A GO, YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR LIP LINER AND LIPSTICK WITH YOU ON THE GO TO ALWAYS FRESHEN UP, BUT, IF DONE WITH THE STEPS BELOW, THE TOUCHUPS WON’T BE AS FREQUENT, IT WILL LAST 100 TIMES LONGER!

Now, Go Pick Out Your Color….. Thanks For Reading :)

FASHION WEEK FRIDAY….

I originally was going to do fashion week trends every Sunday, but decided EVERY Friday would be better to get you up to date before the weekend, in case you want to try  one of the looks for a day or night out!

So here it is, Friday Look #1 is brought straight to YOU from the Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Week! This is from the designer Wes Gordon. At his show, the makeup look is fresh, the nail style is bold, and there hair is effortless! Heres the details…

Wes Gordon

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2012

Wes Gordon’s luxe-for-the-youth collection for New York Fashion Week was fresh-faced and optimistic for the spring season. ”She’s sleek and civilized, but she might scratch your eyes out” remarked Wes of his collection’s muse.

MAKEUP

“The makeup at Wes Gordon is fresh, young, and elegant,” said Maybelline New York Global Makeup Artist Charlotte Willer. “The skin is dewy, the brow is strong, and the lip pops with sheer color.” To get the young and sophisticated spring look, Charlotte first applied Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation for flawless skin, then created strong brows using Maybelline Define-A-Brow Eyebrow Pencil two shades darker than models’ natural brow color. For a youthful glow, Charlotte applied Maybelline Fit Me! Blush in Medium Coral. She then stained the center of lips with Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Very Cherry, a sheer bright red. Charlotte also dabbed Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm in Quenched over lips and eyes for an overall dewy effect.

NAILS

To complement the spirited and retro vibe of the designs, CND manicurist Kristina Estabrooks crafted rounded nails into an almond shape and applied two coats of CND Colour in Poppyfield, a stunning, nearly-neon shade of coral. Toes were kept clean and neutral with CND Colour in Desert Suede.

SO, HOW DO “YOU” GET THIS…REGARDLESS OF THE “BRAND YOU CHOOSE”  FOR BEAUTY, THINK TANGERINE…

FOR NAILS, WE USED CND COLOUR “POPPYFIELD” BACKSTAGE

FOR FASHION…THINK COLOR BLOCKING..THAT MEANS MIXING BOLD OR BRIGHT WITH CLASSIC COLORS..

So, I hope this inspires you to try even “One” of the looks in your own way this weekend.

Coming Monday… Manicure Mondays…Want to see something specific? please Comment, I would love to feature what you want to see!

A New Youtube Video…The Makeup Lesson

So excited to get new makeup! who wouldn’t? I was in desperate need of a NEW foundation and was told by many to try Makeup Forevers HD Foundation, of course when you walk up to the testers there’s like 100 colors! The Makeup/Sales girl Rebecca was extremely helpful, I said, for some reason I can pick out foundation shades for everyone else but myself, she didn’t even hesitate to try some out on me, So I ended up with #120

Heres the best part…did you know that if you purchase a product from Sephora and bring it home and it, well, looks awful on you, that you can return it for a credit?!?

A little birdie told me that one…So guess what Im doing, Bringing back the Smashbox 15 hour one because I don’t like how it looks on me at all! And of course, I bought some other popular stuff:

Urban Decay Potion Eye Primer

Urban Decay Naked Palette ( NO, Not the Newest one, it’s still sold out! )

Violent Lips ” The Red Glitteratti” Temporary Lip tattoo ( To try on a YouTube Video )

AND A FREE “SUGAR KISSES LIP DUO” BY FRESH AS A BIRTHDAY BONUS GIFT THEY GAVE ME ( IF YOUR A INSIDER MEMBER ) SO SIGN UP IF YOUR NOT!

TUESDAY TREND REPORT…

2012 is all about brights! Bright lips, bright nails, bright clothes! No matter what your fashion or beauty style is, you can be as understated or overstated with this.
This season at fashion week, i loved the bright lip and the clean eye look, its so fresh and gorgeous. I personally am not about flash all over so the bright lip and bright nail would be more my style.

HOW DO I GET THE LOOK AND FOR LESS?

Its so easy, you want to create a dewy look on the face. mix an equal about of foundation and moisturizer together and apply to your face concentrating on the T Zone of your face (thats the forehead, nose, mouth.
Then take the lipstick your going to use, apply a little to the back of your hand to warm up the product and add a tiny amount of highlight serum or or moisturizer and blend, then tap that color that you mixed on your hand to the apples of your cheeks, and tap the same mix on your lips…(this is for a fresh look) then load on the mascara
HOW TO VIDEO COMING SOON ON THE MEGA LASH LOOK WITH JUST MASCARA
For bold, punchy lips, moisturize lips first ( I use aquafor) then blot. Then line your lips with the matching lipliner to the lip color your using and color in lips. seal the lipliner with powder (translucent, or regular face powder) then apply lipstick, then blot again on tissue and seal AGAIN with powder, the apply one more coat of lipstick…WhaLa! Sexy Lips that will last.
Have Any tips of your own? please share, I would love to know.

HOW DO YOU PICK OUT A LIPSTICK SHADE?

You walk up to a makeup counter in a department store and all you see are over 100 different lipsticks, all different colors, lip glosses, lip balms, lip pots…Where do you begin? So i bet you grab a lipstick and test it on your hand right? WRONG! the right area to test out the trueness of the color is on the inside finger tip, that is the closest and most true to your lip. bet you didn’t know that! also, ask the professional to test it on your lips, so you can see how you look in it ( make sure they sanitize it first, ewwww ) there are a variety of shades, (let say red for instance), because of skin tone, wether your a cool or warm or even neutral (will get into that in another topic ) so the variety is there to find YOURS!

WHAT IF IM IN A DRUGSTORE WITH NO TESTERS?

This is easier once you know if your cool, warm or neutral. Most do have testers, but if you stumble across a lip shade that has no tester? I know some stores like CVS will let you purchase a shade, bring it home, try it, and if you don’t like it, they allow you to return opened makeup (just don’t use it a thousand times )

The best shade is the one that still looks great even if you’re wearing no other makeup. This is a color that will always work for you.

If you want just a hint of color, you’ll want to opt for a colored lip gloss or lip tint over regular lipstick. Most cosmetic lines offer sheerer products for you to choose from.

You’ll want to test lipstick whenever possible. Just because a shade looks great in the tube, doesn’t mean it’ll look good on you.

What Lipstick Are You Wearing?

(via )

This bride was so amazing to work with, on her eyes I did a very smoky look with lots of cluster lashes.

What is your favorite lipstick or gloss right now?

What is your favorite lipstick or gloss right now?

ITS JANUARY, OR SHOULD I SAY BLAHUARY-
THE PROBLEM: DRY, CHAPPED LIPS
THE SOLUTION:
To have sexy, smooth lips all winter, and lipstick ready

* Avoid licking your lips! Saliva contains enzymes that clean your mouth and digest food, Which will dry out your lips very fast! When your lips are screaming for moisture…grab a gloss or chapstick. Even olive oil will work wonders.
*Need Plumping? add a little cinnamon in your favorite lip product, this will stimulate blood flow and plump your lips the natural way. Or get a lip pluming gloss.
* Exfoliate dry scaly lips with your toothbrush, or rub a little sugar & olive oil on the lips.
Now your ready for fabulous smackers xoxo
What are some of your challenges and/or solutions? Love to know…
