Lashes can party all night with new Extended Play Lash - a curling, lifting, defining Mascara in a glossy shade of Endless Black. The lightweight formula applies with a petite slim-line brush to stretch lash volume. Smudge resistant. Lasts 16 hours.

MAC Extended Play Lash is for those who have issues with flaking, fading, smudgy-coon (aka raccoon eye) issues. This one has an extra long wear and I experience no problems with it wearing off or flaking however I typically never have issues with my mascara doing this anyway but this is nice for those with oily lids or just general problems keeping their mascara in place.

One of the nicest parts about it is the fact it removes so easily. Warm water will take it off in a few seconds or an oil based remover. I’m impressed that such a long wearing formula didn’t end up sticking around, impossible to remove, for hours on end.

After the weeklong marathon of fashion shows that is New York Fashion Week, we admit all the shows have already blended into a blur of bright lights and brighter clothes. But last night David and Phillipe Blond of The Blonds put on a show that people won’t forget so easily.

Since their runway debut in 2007, Florida native David and Puerto Rico-born Phillipe have been creating outfits that don’t take fashion so seriously. This season they paired up with Playboy and sent out big hair and leotards with sequins, pom-poms and fur. Stars such as Patricia Field, Jay Manuel and Johnny Weir sat front and center to witness it all.

While we can’t rock this in the office, celebrities such as Katy Perry, Britney Spears and “The Girls Next Door”’s Holly Madison have already worn designs from the label. And who could blame them — the looks are as crazy as they are creative. Whoever said fashion wasn’t fun clearly hasn’t been to a show by The Blonds.

The CND Daily Nail 9.14.11

Glitz & Glam Perfection at The Blonds

September 14, 2011 - CND's 15 year anniversary at Fashion Week is almost coming to a close, with only one more day to go. Today's runway nails were Playboy Bunny-approved, feathered and furious, fleshy, and neon bright:

At The BlondsKristina Estabrooks created”Glitz & Glam” manicures for a collection inspired by 60’s Playboy glamour infused with razzle dazzle spectacle we all know and love. The 20 sets of nail tips took over 100 hours of manual labor to hand detail, and included a “Stockings Series” of manicures portraying fishnets, lacy tights and sexy seams. Vintage cosmic-shaped glass was imported from Germany to shape diamond-decadent nails that shined out loud in the spotlight.

WHAT’S MY DAILY MAKEUP ROUTINE? I GET ASKED THIS ALL THE TIME, OF COURSE WITH SEASONS AND TRENDS, MY FAV’S CHANGE, BUT HERE IS WHAT I AM DOING RIGHT NOW, AND IM LOVING!!! THIS IS MY SECRET TO THE SUMMER GLOW MAKEUP AND EVERY SINGLE PRODUCT I CURRENTLY USE.

FIRST, I CLEANSE WITH MEGA PURIFYING CLEANSER BY GYMED

THIS CLEANSER MOISTURIZES WHILE IT CLEANS AND REMOVES ALL MY MAKEUP, MY SKIN ALWAYS FEEL SO AMAZING

THEN, I MOISTURIZE WITH VITAMIN E, IT PLUMPS MY SKIN

THEN I PROTECT WITH THIS MOISTURIZER THAT HAS MAJOR ANTI AGING INGREDIENTS AND SPF OF 30

I MOISTURIZE UNDER MY EYES WITH MAC FAST RESPONSE EYECREAM AND MY LIPS WITH AQUAPHOR

NOW THAT I HAVE A CLEAN, MOISTURIZED BASE, I USE LAURA MERCIER OIL FREE PRIMER TO MAKE MY MAKEUP STAY PUT ALL DAY WITHOUT SHINE

NEXT I APPLY FOUNDATION, IN THE SUMMER MONTHS I SWITCH TO TINTED MOISTURIZER, BUT RIGHT NOW IM WEARING MAKEUP FOREVER HD FOUNDATION, ESPECIALLY WITH BEING ON CAMERA A LOT!

THEN I CONCEAL WITH LAURA MERCIER, I LIKE THE PEACH AND THE YELLOW IN THIS ONE PALETTE TO CONCEAL DARKNESS/PURPLE UNDER MY EYES, OR THE YELLOW FOR ANY RED BLEMISH OR UNDER MY NOSE WHERE USUALLY THERE IS REDNESS

THEN I SET ALL OF THIS WITH MAKEUP FOREVER HD TRANSLUCENT POWDER BECAUSE IT IS WEIGHTLESS AND DOESNT ADD ON MORE MAKEUP LIKE A PRESSED POWDER WOULD

TO BRONZE UP MY SKIN IF I WANT MORE COLOR, I USE MAC BRONZER, ESPECIALLY TO CONTOUR MY CHEEKS

THEN MY FAVORITE BLUSH IS NARS ORGASM

FOR MY EYES, I PENCIL IN MY BROWS WITH BEDHEAD BLONDE PENCIL

AND PRIME MY EYELIDS WITH URBAN DECAY POTION SO MY EYESHADOW DOESN’T MOVE OR CREASE!! DEPENDING ON MOOD I APPLY EYESHADOW, WETHER IT’S GOLD/COPPER WHICH LOOKS GREAT WITH MY BROWN EYES, OR I WILL GO DARKER FOR A SMOKEY LOOK, BUT, I USE THE NAKED PALETTE BY URBAN DECAY BECAUSE OF ALL THE COLOR CHOICES IN IT!

MY GO TO EYELINER SWITCHES BACK AND FORTH FROM MAYBELINE CREAM LINER AND LOREAL HIP GEL LINER, THIS HONESTLY IS THE BEST, I HAVE TRIED THEM ALL! I GET COMPLIMENTS ALL THE TIME ON MY EYELINER HOW BOLD IT IS AND DOESNT MOVE ALL DAY!

THEN, LOTS OF COATS OF MASCARA WITH MY #1 MASCARA, FLASIE BLACK DRAMA

MY LIPCOLOR I WEAR MOST IS PEACHY TONES, I SWITCH BACK AND FORTH FROM STILA AND LOREAL INFALLIABLE

ONE OF MY SECRETS TO MY GLOW IS BEFORE I MOISTURIZE, EVERY OTHER DAY I APPLY SELF TANNER TO MY FACE, AGAIN, I HAVE TRIED MANY BRANDS, AND THE ONE THAT I FIND DOESNT STREAK, SMELL LOUSY, OR TURN ME ORANGE IS JERGENS EXPRESS, MAKE SURE ITS THE EXPRESS, THE REGULAR GLOW DOESNT WORK AS WELL

I USE IT ALL OVER MY BODY TOO, JUST TO KEEP ME HEALTHY LOOKING, I CAN GET PRETTY PALE HAHAHA SO I NEED THIS , IT’S A STAPLE!

THEN TO FINALIZE MY LOOK, I SPRAY SOME MINERAL WATER SPRAY TO KIND OF RE-MOISTURIZE MY FACE AND SET THE POWDER LOOK SO I DON’T LOOK POWDERY, PLUS ITS GREAT TO KEEP ONE IN YOUR PURSE TO REHYDRATE MY SKIN THROUGHOUT THE DAY, IT FEELS REALLY NICE TO ESPECIALLY IN THE HOT MONTHS, THIS WILL KEEP YOU YOUTHFUL TOO.

AND I DRINK A LOT OF SMART WATER

SO THERE YOU HAVE IT, MY DAILY MOST CURRENT ROUTINE AND FAVORITES, HAVE ANY LITTLE TRICKS OF YOUR OWN? PLEASE SHARE THE LOVE.

COLOR…. COLORFUL EYESHADOW, COLORFUL EYELINER, MIX & MATCH!

GO AS COLORFUL AS YOU CAN! HOW TO MAKE IT WEARABLE?

1. ALL YOU NEED IS TO START WITH A WHITE BASE! WHITE UNDERNEATH WILL AMP UP AND BRIGHTEN ANY COLOR!

HAVE YOU EVER BOUGHT A GREEN EYESHADOW OR PURPLE ETC, PUT IT ON, AND IT LOOKS DRAB? DOESN’T QUITE LOOK LIKE THE COLOR IN THE ACTUAL PALETTE?

OR HOW ABOUT NEON NAIL POLISH, YOU PUT IT ON IT KIND OF LOOKS TRANSLUCENT?

WELL YOU NEED TO START WITH A WHITE BASE…GET A CREAM BASED EYESHADOW, ANY BRAND, THIS WORKS BEST BECAUSE THE CREAMINESS WILL ACT AS A PRIMER AND A MAGNET!

THEN GO RIGHT OVER WITH DIFFERENT COLORS IN DIFFERENT SECTIONS DEPENDING ON THE LOOK..HERE ARE SOME MORE:

FOR THIS, YOU JUST TAKE SOME CREAM OR MAKEUP REMOVER ON A QTIP AND WIPE A CLEAN LINE AFTER APPLYING THE EYESHADOW OVER THE WHITE TO CREATE THIS CRISP CLEAN LINE.

I JUST DID A PHOTOSHOOT WITH JJ DURAND WITH HELLO ME FILMS AND CREATED A COUPLE LOOKS LIKE THIS AND IT WAS SO EASY. I EVEN USED THE MULTICOLOR PALETTE FROM NYX, THE ONE WITH ALL THE SMALL POTS AND A MILLION BRIGHT COLORS!

2. YOU CAN EVEN CREATE A SMOKIER BRIGHT LIKE THIS LOOK, START WITH A WHITE EYESHADOW BASE INSTEAD (POWDER WHITE EYESHADOW) TO NOT BRIGHTEN YOUR COLORS SO MUCH, INSTEAD IT WILL SOFTEN, AND JUST LAYER, THERES NO RULE! ITS ONLY MAKEUP, GET CREATIVE.

3. CREAM PIGMENTS! THEY COME IN POTS IN ALL DIFFERENT BRANDS, THE LOREAL WHIPPED CREAM PIGMENTS WORK FABULOUS AND LAST HOURS! THIS YOU CAN JUST APPLY WITH BRUSHED OR QTIPS, AND REMEMBER, IF DOESNT COME OUT PERFECT, HUST CLEAN UP THE LINES WITH SOME FACE LOTION ON A QTIP…PRODUCT REMOVES PRODUCT, REMEMBER THAT TIP!

NOW GET OUT TO THE MAKEUP STORE AND TRY ONE THESE LOOKS…I DARE YOU TO BE DIFFERENT!

TODAYS TUESDAY TREND IS THE MUST HAVE CORAL LIP THAT IS SIMPLY GORGEOUS FOR THIS SPRING! TALK ABOUT COMPLIMENTING SKIN TONE! READ ON…..

The season’s must-try lip shade is beachy and hot — sound familiar Miami? Instead of constantly reaching for our usual red, we’re switching gears for spring and embracing a coral kisser — inspired by the pretty . Coral lips on recent shoots I have worked on, including Spring Fashion Week! To help you pick your perfect coral match, here are a few tips, While the hue may look vivid, it’s a surprisingly versatile shade: “Coral is actually a neutral color, meaning it can be both warm and cool so it works for everyone.”

When it comes to selecting a statement-making pop of color for your lips, the trick to picking the right one is not based on your skin’s actual shade, but rather your undertones. “If your skin has gold or yellow undertones, a peachier or orange coral will be most flattering. If you have pink undertones, choose a pink or red-based coral.”

With those tips in mind, here are five new coral lip colors to get you started with spring’s freshest beauty trend. From shiny and sheer balm to high-impact lipstick, check out the prettiest peachy-hued lip products to add to your beauty bag.
Tarte’s vibrant coral has a warm golden sheen to it and is infused with maracuja oil to make your lips look and feel, well, divine.

The Best Looks from New York Fashion Week: Spring 2012

For Altuzarra’s Spring/Summer 2012 show, we again saw 90s references at points. Paul Hanlon who led the Fekkai team chose to create a straight, serrated style for the girls — making sure to not have that straight “Donatella Versace effect” but rather a jagged edge that was often seen in the 90s.

To create this look Hanlon added Full Volume Mousse to the hair and dried it in, but left some texture. He then added in extensions to the girls who didn’t have layers, and razored the ends to create that feeling of fringe. He also wanted the back to have a blunt edge, so for the girls with layers, he actually added extensions for a blunt look. To get the fringe to lay over the eyes as the models walked the runway, Hanlon sprayed Sheer Hold Hairspray and let it dry flat over the eye and then broke the hair into sets. He also added a bit of Fekkai Forming Wax at the ends for jagged edges.

FOR THE MAKEUP:

At Altuzarra spring ‘12, a little black, powder went a long way. Inspired by thick, defined, fifties-style brows (à la Joan Crawford), makeup artist Tom Pecheux went graphic, brushing some seriously striking black powder onto models’ brows. To add a sporty, “feeling of heat” to the look, eyelids got shiny with clear MAC gloss (think, Elizabeth Taylor breaks a sweat). But instead going for housewives hair—and to channel the collection’s bold vibe—stylist Paul Hanlon kept the locks modern, androgynous-inspired, and sleek.

According to Tom Pecheux, the make up artist visionary responsible for creating the straight, black eyebrows seen on Joseph Altuzarra’s spring runway, “The eyebrows are hangers that hold up the eyes.” If you decide to plump for the new bold brow, the key to making the trend work is keeping the rest of the face clear of color and making the brows the focal point of the whole look.

If you choose to embrace better living through tweezing, commit to heart these instructions before you hit the bathroom mirror. Remove a hair, and then take a step back and check your work. Repeat.

THINK BACK TO THE BROOKE SHIELDS DAY..

Makeup artist Tom Pecheux took inspiration from Elizabeth Taylor, at the gym. Strong brows and nude skin let the graphic designs stand out on the runway. He applied MAC Select Cover Up Concealer, and pressed MAC Select Sheer/Loose Powder into the skin for a matte finish. He layered MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder and MAC Eye Shadow in Carbon on the brows with a MAC 266 brush. MAC Pro Gloss Texture was lightly applied over the eyelids with a MAC 252 brush for a dewy finish. Lips were hydrated and natural.

FOR THE NAILS:

Candice Manacchio was backstage with the CND team, shaping “Second Skin” manicures. She applied one coat of CND Colour in Puttylayered—a neutral nude—topped with CND Super Matte Top Coat to juxtapose dramatic, black eyebrows and stick-straight hair. These nails perfectly accessorize the tropical-tech runway.

CND lead nail technician Candice Manacchio created a natural, clean “second skin” manicure that complimented the more sporty looks of the collection. CND “Putty” was topped with CND Super Matte Top Coat.
THIS TRULY IS A MANICURE THAT IS ALWAYS IN STYLE, YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG, IT CAN BE PEACHY, PINK, OR CREAM, JUST MATCH YOUR SKIN TONE

Futurism in the tropics marked the theme at Altuzarra for spring 2012. Stark black and white shapes in plastic and leathery finishes contrasted colorful, Hawaiian-inspired floral patterns. Sleek hair and graphic, darkened brows enhanced the sci-fi tendencies of the collection.

For his Spring ‘12 collection, Joseph Altuzarraoffered up techno-infused prints, structured silhouettes, and sexy-chic leather cutouts. The designer wowed with brilliant color and high-wattage prints, while leather vests and jackets countered with slick shapes, and knits with effortless wearability. It’s the perfect mix of the tough girl and the optimist with edgier details on jackets and layers, then a full-bodied print on a playful jumpsuit. MONDAY….MANICURE MONDAYS!
    By Candice Manacchio XOXO

MASCARA, MASCARA, MASCARA…SO MANY OUT THERE…WHICH SHOULD YOU CHOOSE? WHAT REALLY WORKS? WHAT’S THE HYPE?

WELL YOU CAME TO THE RIGHT PLACE! TODAY’S TUESDAY TRENDS IS… YOU GUESSED IT! MASCARA!

WE ALREADY KNOW HOW TO GET LONG, THICK FABULOUS LASHES WITH FALSE LASHES, LASH EXTENSIONS AND LASH DIPPING TREATMENTS OUT THERE, BUT WHO HAS THE TIME AND MONEY?

YOU WALK INTO YOUR LOCAL DRUGSTORE, DEPARTMENT STORE OR BEAUTY SUPPLY… AND BAM! YOUR FACED WITH AISLES OF MASCARA

YOU GO HOME, TRY IT ON, AND IT’S NOT LOOKING LIKE THE COMMERCIAL YOU JUST SAW, OR THE ADD IN THE MAGAZINE, NEXT THING YOU KNOW, YOUR MAKEUP DRAWER LOOKS A LIITLE LIKE THIS…

    LESSON 1.

THE SECRET IS IN THE WAND! AND THE APPLICATION!!!!!

DID YOU NOTICE THAT IN A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT MASCARAS, THE WANDS VARY IN SIZE AND SHAPE? FROM A COMB, TO A FAT NUB WITH SPIKES THAT LOOKS LIKE ONE OF THOSE PRICKERS THAT GOT STUCK ON YOUR SWEATER FROM THE BUSHES? SOME ARE CURVED, SOME SKINNY…

THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT FOR A REASON.

BUT WE WILL GET BACK TO THAT…NOW YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENT FORMULAS FIRST AND PICK 1 YES ONLY ONE THAT FITS YOU BEST:

Here’s what you need to know. Every person has different eyelashes, and mascaras are also made differently to fit every person. Mascaras can come in the basic liquid, cake or cream form. But nowadays, they come in many varieties. Despite that, they all contain the same basic pigments, oils, waxes and preservative components.

In choosing the best mascara, you should need to know the following:

    1. The basic effects of the mascara, whether it is Water-proof or Non-water-proof.

Water-proof Mascara reduce smudging because they contain substances that rebuff water, which is why it is advisable to use if you have oily skin or if you live in humid areas. It is also best to use when you are planning to attend a wedding, go to the beach or watch a sad movie, as this prevents you from having raccoon-looking eyes in the end. If you want a mascara that can hold your curls more, then a water-proof mascara is the best one for you.

Non Water-proof Mascaras can tend to smudge because they contain ingredients that are water-soluble and thus, don’t hold your curls very well.

    2. The kind of eyelashes you have, whether it is thin and weak or thick. If you have thin/weak  lashes, consider using a mascara that has a thick formula as they are dense and won’t make your lashes look droopy. If you have thick lashes then use a mascara that has a wet formula as it can build up your lashes and make it look longer. The nice thing about wet formulas is that they don’t dry too fast, so you have enough time to build up more and more length to your eyelashes.

    3. The different effects of a mascara:

Lengthening Mascara - contain plastic polymers that cling to the ends of your lashes and extend the tips, making it look longer. The wand of lengthening mascaras are short and have densely packed bristles helping in creating that lengthening effect. The only problem about this type is that the fibers causing the lashes to look longer can irritate the eye. This is suitable for people with thick lashes.

Thickening Mascara - adds volume to the lashes and have a thicker formula than any other mascara. Their pigments are also more intense to really give that volumized look. This is good for filmy and thin lashes whether they’d be long or short.

Curling Mascara – mascaras with curling formulas contain polymers that causes the lashes to shrink and lift once it has been applied. This kind of mascara is suitable for straight lashes that need a little curl and work well especially with those that are short. But take note that curling mascaras do not replace your eyelash curlers.

Non-Clumping Mascara - have moisture-rich ingredients like silk extract and glycerin which causes the product to glide on smoothly and keep lashes from looking clumpy. The wand applicators have long bristles to pull the product evenly through your lashes. Though they are non-clumping, you won’t really get a lot of volume and length from it as they contain fewer waxes and fibers than other regular mascaras.

Nourishing Mascara – is applied prior to putting on your normal mascara. They nourish your lashes and also thicken and lengthen them. Though it is good for all types of lashes, nourishing mascaras can make them look droopy. So, if you don’t want that kind of effect, then use this at night to nourish them if your lashes are thin and weak. Otherwise, make sure they are longer and thicker before using this to prevent them from looking droopy when you’re out.

NOW BACK TO THE WANDS, THE MOST INEXPENSIVE WAY TO DO THIS IS PURCHASE A KIT OF DIFFERENT WANDS (THEY EVEN COME IN DISPOSABLES!

THEN YOU CAN USE THE DIFFERENT WANDS IN YOUR ONE MASCARA FORMULA, USUALLY IT TAKE 2 DIFFERENT WANDS (A VOLUMING AND A LENGTHENING) TO GET THEM FULLEST http://promakeupshop.com and http://alibaba.com

YOU WILL LOVE ME FOR THIS. ALL I NEED IN MY MAKEUP KIT WHEN ON A JOB IS THIS AND THE FORMULA I USE BECAUSE I GO THROUGH THEM SO QUICK IS, BELIEVE IT OR NOT..

THIS IS AN IN EXPENSIVE WAY FOR MY CLIENTS TO HAVE THE MOST AMAZING LONG AND THICK LASHES AND IM NOT FLUSHING MONEY DOWN THE TOILET!

FOR MYSELF (SEE MY HTTP://YOUTUBE.COM/NAILSANDLIPSTICK CHANNEL) THE VIDEO IS TITLED: “LONGER LASHES FAST, MY SECRET”

I SWEAR BY THE FOLLOWING 2:

*MAYBELLINE FALSIES IN BLACK DRAMA AND MAC ZOOM LASH IN BLACK*

NOW THAT YOU HAVE THAT TRICK, NOW THE APPLICATION PART IS KEY, OR ALL ELSE WILL FAIL!

Apply the mascara first to the tip of the lashes then to the roots with a zigg-zagg motion of the brush to separate them.

DO THIS WHILE LOOKING DOWN INTO A MIRROR, DO NOT LOOK STRIGHT AHEAD INTO A MIRROR! DO THIS IN 2-3 COATS.

    FOR ALL YOU NATURAL GIRLS…

Clear mascara is perfect for creating natural look. You can also use it as a brow gel which will help define your brows. You can apply it after sweeping your brows with shadows to fill in the nude spots

THEN, IF YOU HAVE THE SKILL, TIME AND LIKE THE DRAMA, HERE IS A “NEW” MASCARA I CAME ACROSS DURING FASHION WEEK

IT PUTS ALMOST LIKE AN EXTRA THICK LINING ON MY LASHES, AND COMES WITH 2 GUITAR PICKS THAT YOU PRESS AGAINST YOUR LASH BASE AND COMB THE MASCARA AGAINST IT! CHECK OUT THERE WEBSITE TO SEE HOW HTTP://EYEKO.COM

    HERE’S BEFORE AND AFTER:

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THERE IS THE “BLINC” MASCARA THAT PUTS TUBES ON YOUR LASHES TO MAKE THEM MORE DRAMATIC HTTP://BLINC.COM

WHEN YOU WASH YOUR MAKEUP OFF YOU ACTUALLY SLIDE THE TUBES OFF YOUR LASHES, IT’S PRETTY COOL.

NOW I CAN GO ON AND ON BUT I CAN’T, YES YOU HAVE TOOLS OUT THERE, DIFFERENT LASH CURLERS ETC BUT I WILL COVER THAT ON A DIFFERENT DAY OTHERWISE THIS WILL BE WAY TOO LONG TO READ.

HOPE YOU ENJOYED! PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE!

    TOMORROW…WHATS’ NEW WEDNESDAY….

    By Candice Manacchio XOXO

TODAYS FASHION FRIDAY IS ALL ABOUT SPRING/SUMMER 2012 MONIQUE LHUILLIER’S SHOW FORM NYFW…HERE ARE THE TRENDS….

Sleek hair and sheer lacquer complimented Monique Lhuillier‘s Spring collection. Color blocked cocktail dresses and daring little evening gowns were partnered with neatly pulled back ponytails and oval shaped nails in semi-sheer tones. Rich blue graphic liner gives the look its edge.

    FOR THE MAKEUP…..

Val Garland for MAC said the makeup was all about the eyes. She created a “swoosh” eyeliner - an ode to the Nike swish - with no mascara and dewy skin. “The look is fast, sporty, sexy - with a “just do it” attitude,” said Val. The eyebrows were groomed and extended a bit longer to give the idea of movement and speed, while the lips were left with just lip conditioner “to make it sporty and young.” Val layered a cobalt blue liner - created with MAC Chromacake, a paste to which the pros add water to achieve the perfect line - over a black liquid liner. To get the look at home, Val recommends marker tip liners.

    FOR THE HAIR…SO EASY & SEXY……

The jogger look continued with the hair by Odile Gilbert for Kerastase who created a very tight (emphasis on the tight), slicked high pony. Odile wanted the girls’ hair to look like a horse’s tail, an effect she created by teasing the pony for extra oomph. The reason for the high pony? To complement the evening wear by revealing the neck and shoulders.

    FOR THE NAILS… CLASSIC, ELEGANT & CLEAN…..

Wanda Ruiz for CND opted for “soy milk” manicures and midnight blue pedicures. On fingers, she used two coats of CND Colour in Cream Washed with one coat of CND’s Super Shiny Top Coat over it. TOMORROW…THRIFTY THURSDAY….

    By Candice Manacchio XOXO

WELCOME BACK TO FASHION FRIDAY, TODAYS SPRING 2012 POST IS FROM THE DESIGNER NAHM, BELOW IS THE HAIR, MAKEUP, NAILS AND WARDROBE TO INSPIRE YOU THIS WEEKEND WHEN YOU EITHER HIT THE CLUB, GO OUT ON A DATE OR JUST VISITING WITH FRIENDS…THIS IS WHERE YOU WILL KNOW WHAT TO SHOP FOR!

FIRST, LETS START WITH THE NAIL TRENDS…THINK CLEAN, NUDE, CLASSIC!

At NAHMWanda Ruiz created three unique oval manicure styles to color coordinate with airy white sundresses, plum-punchy prints and burnt orange woven shifts. Cottony-white nails were crafted with two coats of CND Colour in Washed Down White. Faded Creamsicle-orange nails were comprised of CND Colour in Desert Suede topped with Copper Shimmer Effect, and precious ruby nails were done using CND Colour in Dark Ruby finished with Copper Pearl Effect. These luminescent styles complemented twisted unicorn top-knots and shimmery eye make-up.

FOR HAIR AND MAKEUP…. YOUNG AND FRESH AND SO EASY!

    MAKEUP

Incredibly soft, almost ethereal makeup was used at Nahm, with makeup artist Nadine Luke letting the clothes do the talking. Vivid prints, loose, floaty fabrics, and desert inspired colors were featured in shirt dresses with Peter Pan collars and striped jumpsuits. In contrast, makeup was soft and simple. Eyes were lined all the way around with a shimmering white eye liner and lips had a darker tone.

    NAILS

Three different types of polish were used in the show, and all had an elegant, grown up feel about them to offset the collections almost school-girly type vibe. Wanda Ruiz from the CND team used shades of burnt orange, burgundy and cream (CND Colour in Desert Suede topped with CND Copper Shimmer effectCND Colour in Dark Ruby, and CND Colour in Washed Down White), and nails were kept short and rounded to look even more grown up.

    HAIR

Cute topknots ruled the runway. Hair was pulled back tightly off the models faces, and twisted into a ballerina bun at the top of their heads. Such an easy, every-girl-can-do-it look!

FOR THE WARDROBE, PUT TOGETHER ANY OF THE PIECES, OR, REMEMBER YOU CAN DO IT WITH ACCESSORIES, I KNOW YOU HAVE AT LEAST ONE OF THE PIECES BELOW JUST SITTING IN YOUR CLOSET! JUST PUT ON A SHEER WHITE SHIRT, DO A KNOT BUN ON TOP OF YOUR HEAD, AND WEAR A DARK LIP OR LINE YOUR LOWER EYELID WITH A WHITE PENCIL!

I HOPR THIS INSPIRED YOU TO HIT THE MALL OR YOUR FAVORITE STORE TO PUT TOGETHER YOUR OWN VERSION. FOR ME, IT WILL BE THE WHITE EYELINER AND ALOT OF MASCARA, IT KINFD OF REMINDS ME OF TWIGGY FROM THE 60’S
    HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
    MONDAY…MANICURE MONDAYS!
    By Candice Manacchio

TODAYS THRIFTY THURSDAY POST IS HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN LIQUID FOUNDATION MAKEUP! YOU WILL LOVE ME FOR THIS! FOUNDATION CAN GET VERY EXPENSIVE, SO MAKE YOUR OWN, OR MAKE WHAT YOU HAVE SPREAD FUTHER WITH THESE EASY TIPS!

SO LETS START WITH HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN. FIRST, GET ANY PRESSED POWDER THAT MATCHES YOUR SKIN TONE! ANY BRAND! THEN GRAB ONE THAT IS 2 SHADES DARKER AND 2 SHADES LIGHTER…SO NOW YOU SHOULD HAVE 3 POWDERS!

NEXT, WITH THE POWDER THAT MATCHES YOUR SKIN, YOU CAN USE ANY OF THE 3 METHODS:

    1. ORGANIC OIL, SESAME, OLIVE ETC

    2. ALOE VERA GEL OR CREAM

    3. FACE MOISTURIZER

    * SCRAPE OFF POWDER INTO A BOWL THEN ADD A TEASPOON TO START AND MIX IT UP, YOU WILL KEEP ADDING MORE POWDER OR MORE LIQUID ETC TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRED SHADE.

*** TIP: ADD MORE OF THE LIQUID FOR SHEER COVERAGE LIKE A TINTED MOISTURIZER OR MORE POWDER FOR HEAVY COVERAGE.

AND NO, THE OIL WON’T CLOG YOUR PORES OR MAKE YOU BREAKOUT ETC, I KNOW YOUR PROBABLY THINKING THAT! THERE IS OIL IN LIQUID FOUNDATION ANYWAY, JUST DON’T USE HEAVY COOKING OIL!!! USE AN ORGANIC LIGHT OIL!

DO THE SAME STEPS WITH THE LIGHTER AND DARKER POWDER, THIS WILL MAKE YOUR CONTOURING COLOR FOR UNDER CHEEK BONES, SIDES OF NOSE ETC, AND THE LIGHTER FOR HIGHLIGHTING DOWN CENTER OF NOSE, AND UPPER CHEEK BONES!

YOUR FACE SHOULDN’T BE ONE FLAT COLOR, OUR FACE IS DIMENSIONAL, SO YOU NEED TO ADD THE DIFFERENT SHADES FOR A BEAUTIFUL GLOW AND FLAWLESS LOOK!

OK, SO NOW YOU GET THE IDEA, NOW YOU CAN TRY THIS INSTEAD:

    Instructions

    Things You’ll Need

    • 1 tsp. mineral powder foundation
    • 1/2 cup aloe vera gel
    • 1/2 cup cocoa butter
    • Small bowl
    • Spoon
    • Small funnel
    • 8 oz. container with lid
      • 1

Find the perfect shade of mineral powder for your skin. Your liquid foundation will be the same pigment.

      • 2

Mix 1 tsp. of mineral powder foundation, 1/2 cup of aloe vera gel and 1/2 cup of cocoa butter in a small bowl.

      • 3

Test a small amount of the liquid on your skin. If the color isn’t quite right, try adding a pinch of lighter or darker mineral powder. Stir and test it again.

      • 4

Insert a small funnel into the 8 oz. container and pour in the liquid foundation from the bowl. Seal the lid until you are ready to use.

SO NOW LETS TALK ABOUT HOW TO MAKE YOUR EXISTING FOUNDATION YOU ALREADY HAVE SPREAD FURTHER, LAST LONGER ETC…

WE ALL KNOW, DEPENDING ON THE BRAND HOW EXPENSIVE YOUR FOUNDATION CAN BE, AND YOU DON’T WANT TO MAKE YOUR OWN, YOU JUST ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHAT YOU ARE USING!

    1. APPLY A SMALL AMOUNT (LIKE A PEA SIZE) ONTO YOUR FINGERTIPS TO WARM THE PRODUCT AND APPLY WITH YOUR FINGERS. HEAT WARMS THE PRODUCT AND SPREADS IT FURTHER VERSUS APPLYING COLD OR WITH A BRUSH.

    2. YOUR BOTTLE IS GETTING LOW, ADD A COUPLE DROPS OF ORGANIC OIL INTO THE BOTTLE AND SHAKE IT UP, OR SQUEEZE SOME LIGHT MOISTURIZER INTO THE BOTTLE AND SHAKE VIGOROUSLY TO THIN OUT WHAT YOU GOT, AND SCRAPE SOME PRESSED POWDER INTO IT AND SHAKE AGAIN. HAVING TROUBLE WITH IT BLENDING IN THE BOTTLE? HEAT IT UP A FEW SECONDS IN THE MICROWAVE!

    3. MAKE A TINTED MOISTURIZER, ADD A DROP OF YOUR FOUNDATION TO EQUAL AMOUT OF MOISTURIZER AN SPREAD ONTO FACE.

    4. LAST TIP, ONLY APPLY FOUNDATION TO THE CENTER OF YOUR FACE (WHERE YOU TRULY NEED THE MOST COVERAGE) DON’T APPLY IT HEAVY ALL OVER.. JUST DOT YOUR NOSE, FOREHEAD AND CHIN AND SPREAD OUT!

**NOW YOUR ALL SET! FEELING EXPERIMENTAL? MAKE BRONZER TOO,

PICK A CHEAP BRONZER AND MIX INTO LOTION, AGAIN, MORE POWDER FOR HEAVIER COVERAGE ETC, APPLY ANYWHERE ON BODY, ADD MORE LOTION TO IT TO SPREAD A HINT OF GLOW ALL OVER YOUR BODY!

GO GET BEAUTIFUL AND SAVE THAT $$$

    TOMORROW…FASHION WEEK FRIDAY!

    By Candice Manacchio

    HERE’S YOUR 411 FOR FASHION WEEK FRIDAY….

Think this year’s spring season can’t get here fast enough? Well, here’s something to tide you over for the meantime while we look forward to warm sunshine and the chance to finally swap those heavy jackets and coats for something a little more breezy.

Check out some of our favorite come-hither spring looks from Nicole by Nicole Miller 2012 Spring Lookbook. All items are exclusively sold at JCPenney.  Which pieces, if any, are you loving?

CHECK OUT THE MAKEUP LOOKS, FRESH AND NATURAL IS WHERE U WANT TO GO THIS SEASON, MAKEUP WAS DONE BY MAC…

Backstage at Nicole Miller the beauty look was “healthy and beautiful” according to lead makeup artist James Kaliardos from MAC Cosmetics.

Eyes were defined but not overly done. The Cup of Joe Pro Eye Palette was used, blended on the lid and lower lash line. Scene Eye Shadow was used in the crease and along the lower lash line as well. The waterline and inner eye was lined with Chromagraphic Pencil, and Opulash Optimum Black was applied to upper lashes.

For lips, it was the classic “Nice and Spicy.”

    Nicole Miller
Nicole Miller took her inspiration for the Spring from the speed and adrenaline of extreme sports. This led her to use a plethora of colours in her line. The show started with patterned bright leggings and it didn’t let up for long. There were bright blouses and skirts, which were neutralized by dark garments. There were also head to toe printed looks and black and white prints for the less daring. The collection itself included everything from wearable separates of blouses, pants and shorts to bright sundresses and little cocktail dresses. Long trenches, bright messenger bags and towering platforms accessorized the looks.

AND OF COURSE…THE NAILS…..A MUST DO AND EASY TO DO YOUR SELF AT HOME….

    Checked Please by CND

Here is another look created by CND Runway Nail Professional, Wanda Ruiz for Nicole Miller. Again, totally wearable and pretty easy to do.

These eye-catching checkered manicures were created using CND Colour in Raspberry Parfait and a custom mixed blue made up of Anchor Blue, Dark Ruby, Eclectic Purple and added blue pigment. Nails were topped off with one layer of Ice Blue Shimmer Effect.

Recreate these nails in the salon by painting one stripe of blue down one side of the nail and then another stripe of pink on the other side, then go in and paint the corners with the opposite colors. Grid with tape for the sharpest finish.

HOW ABOUT THE NAILS WITH THE “IN” ACCESSORIES ?!?

SO, TO PUT IT ALL TOGETHER… HERES THE 411…

If you’re wondering where hair and makeup trends are headed, you need to look no further than the Spring 2012 fashion shows. Beauty host Amber Milt chatted with the experts at Nicole Miller, Tahari and Milly for the scoop.

    Nicole Miller Makeup

James Kaliardos, lead makeup artist of the M.A.C Pro Team, told Amber that while you usually see a lot of natural looks for spring, he was creating a “pumped-up natural” for Nicole Miller. Inspired by the idea of a woman going to the gym still looking fabulous, Kaliardos used a redish-brown color all around the eye with a grayish color over to deepen the socket. He contoured the cheeks with a tawny blush and used Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Nice ‘n’ Spicy for a natural lip look. He described it as that perfect color he’s been searching for, for years. Check out M.A.C’s eye shadow palettes here and blush palettes here.

Beauty note: Contouring is a great way for any woman to make her face look thinner and cheekbones more defined.

    Nicole Miller Hair

Looking to complement the young, bright and vibrant Nicole Miller collection, hair stylist Kevin Ryan went for a “light touch.” Opting for a middle part and a subtle bend to open up the hair, he didn’t want the look to be too heavy or ladylike. He used a double barrel curling iron to get natural waves as opposed to too-prefect curls. Try one of these double barrel irons from Folica.

Beauty note: Using a double barrel curling iron is no easy task and takes practice. But the end result is worth it.

HERE IS SOME PICS OF THE HAIR…***IT’S A DO NOT TRY SO HARD LOOK… JUST BE EFFORTLESS AND ALL NATURELLL ;0

SO THERE’S YOUR SCOOP FOR THIS “FASHION FRIDAY” GO OUT AN EXPRESS YOURSELF THIS WEEKEND WITH A “SAVED BY THE BELL” 80’S OUTFIT, OR CHECKERBOARD YOUR NAILS, OR JUST TRY THE HAIR OR MAKEUP LOOK…
